A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

Defeat hordes of demons and monsters and face off against hell itself in this upcoming roguelite adventure

You are the resistance, the last hope for surface dwellers against the invading forces of evil. Your home, a floating island above the capital of Empyra. This is a turn-based RPG with a twist: to attack, you play an embedded match-3 game with unique takes in how you move tiles and make matches. Different "colors" correspond to attacks with unique properties. Some attack multiple enemies, some ignore armor, each being unique in its own way. Not only that, you may move a single tile as many spaces as you want within a time limit. This opens up creating multiple matches in a single turn very consistently and lowers the effects of bad luck on board generation.

Add that to encounters that make you think "who do I focus down first", map exploration a la FTL or Slay the Spire, and forking paths between regions a la Dead Cells, and you get the recipe for a roguelite that can grab you like no other. This is no simple match-3 game: this is something above the formula.

Current state

A Match Made in Hell is in early and active development. The battle mechanics are pretty much done, with none of the exploration or procedural generation having been implemented yet. The current latest demo (the "battle demo") took about 3 to 4 months to build from the ground up, not counting libraries like Raylib. Development will slow down considerably after the demo is released to deal with all the technical debt.

All art currently in the demo is placeholder. Yes, pixel size is inconsistent; I valued getting the demo out faster than getting it looking good.

If you've already played...

... what did you think? Did it impress? Disappoint? Please tell us over on the feedback form! It will shape future development of A Match Made in Hell, and all feedback will be heard, no matter how harsh.

Supporting development

If you really like the demo and have some change to spare, I've set up a Ko-fi page. Please don't feel like you have to do this, but it would be greatly appreciated if you could.
